“We need vegetables to be healthy.”
This belief has been deeply ingrained for decades. And while it’s well-meaning, it doesn’t always reflect how the human body works best.
The truth is:
- You don’t need vegetables to get your vitamins and minerals.
- You don’t need fruit to be energised.
- You don’t need fiber to have a healthy gut.
In fact, for many people, especially in midlife, removing most or all plant foods can improve digestion, reduce bloating, stabilise blood sugar, calm inflammation, improve mental clarity, and restore energy levels

Plants aren’t neutral. Many contain natural defense chemicals (like oxalates, lectins, and phytates) that can irritate your gut, disrupt hormones, or trigger immune responses, especially if your body is already under stress.
And if you’ve been feeling inflamed, tired, or stuck despite “eating healthy,” your system might just need a reset. A simpler, more foundational way to eat.
